15 BMW Z8

The BMW Z8 was made from 2000 to 2003. The Z8 is the production variant of the 1997 Z07 concept car, which was designed by Henrik Fisker at BMW's Designworks in Southern California. In order to promote the Z8 to collectors and reinforce media speculation about the Z8's "instant classic" potential, BMW made the promise- unprecedented in the auto industry- that a 50 year stockpile of spare parts would be maintained in order to support the Z8 fleet.

14 BMW Z4 M COUPE

The Z4 was designed by Chris Bangle and began the controversy over his "flame surfacing" design and aggressive styling choices. Key to the purity of driving dynamics and handling characteristics of the Z4 Coupe is its exceptionally stiff body structure. Initially, the Z4 was available only as a roadster, but in 2006 the coup? version was officially launched.

13 BMW M6 E63

The BMW M6 E63 made its debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the BMW E63/E64 6-Series, introduced in 2004. It shares the same 5.0 L V10 S85 engine and SMG III gearbox with the E60 M5. The M6 combines the presence of a supercar with grand touring potential. Joining an ever growing club, the fourth new M car of the decade sets a new performance benchmark for production cars. The M6 will have the same 'power button' as the M5 which modifies the throttle response.

12 BMW M5 E60

The BMW M5 has been around for 20 years now and gone through generations of evolution. The BMW M5 still makes its position as the benchmark. The fourth generation M5 has the first V10 engine to power a production sedan. The M5 features several F1 inspired engine and transmission controls including launch control, dynamic stability control, and the option of changing to either automatic or manual as well as the speed at which shifts are completed (there are 11 shift programs).

11 BMW M3 E92

The first ever V8 powered M3 running well over 400 horse power. A standard carbon fiber roof, for improved center of gravity. With many more performance features the car can achieve an acceleration to 60mph in the mid 4 seconds.

10 BMW M3 E36

The replacement for the original M3 appeared at the 1992 Paris Auto Show. This E36 coupe model got the 3.0 straight-6 engine. Following the legacy of the E30 M3, the E36 falls short of the original intent for the series. Unlike the E30 M3 which was designed for competition purposes, the E36 M3 was developed as a road-going GT that lacked motor sport program.

9 BMW M3 CSL

Of the limited-run models of the M3, the M3 CSL (E46) is the most celebrated. BMW made a limited run (less than 1,400 units) of these machines between June and December of 2003. The BMW M3 CSL is not only more powerful than the standard M3, but is also a lot lighter and therefore much more nimble.

8 BMW M3

With performance characteristics rivaling the most exotic sports cars at a fraction of the price, the E46 BMW M3 represents a great automotive value. The BMW M3 engine is the most powerful six-cylinder ever in a production BMW and at 106bhp per liter is one of the highest naturally aspirated 6-cylinders in the world. Changes for 2003 include rain and light sensors and an in dash cd player in combination with the navigation system.

7 BMW M1

The BMW M1 was the first and only mid-engined BMW. It employed a twin-cam M88/1 3.5 L 6-cylinder engine, a version of which was later used in the E24 BMW M6/M635CSi and E28 BMW M5. Though the car never saw a great deal of racing success, the M1 is remembered as a refined and civilized supercar in the true BMW tradition, with great handling and stellar build quality.

6 BMW M COUPE

The BMW M Coupe made by BMW from 1998 to 2002, nicknamed the "Shoe", "Clown Shoe", "Boot", "Shooting Brake" or "Bread Van" by enthusiasts. The car is based on the BMW M Roadster. The semi-trailing arm rear suspension was not modified from the M Roadster. The coupe is 2.7 times stiffer than its convertible counterpart, resulting in superior handling.

5 BMW 850 CSI E31

The BMW 8 Series E31 is a V8 or V12-engined 2-door 2+2 coupe built by BMW from 1989 to 1999 with a top speed of 186 mph. A common misconception is that the 8 Series has been a successor for the original BMW 6 Series in 1989. The 8 Series was aimed towards the supercar market. It was BMW's flagship car while in production.

4 BMW 750I 1

The BMW 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available as a sedan. It replaced the "New Six" models in 1977. The 7 Series was refreshed in 2006 with tweaked front and rear styling and a larger, more powerful V8 engine. The new model with the enlarged engine is now known as 750i and 750Li (for the long wheel-base model). The 750i and 750Li replace the 745i and 745Li in all world markets.

3 BMW 650I

The stunning 6 Series Convertible comes with a choice of three 6-Speed transmissions and BMW's Active Roll Stabilization (ARS) ensure dynamic performance and level cornering on even the tightest curves. Long, low and lightweight, the 650i with its high-performance power train and lavish equipment levels, boasts innovative technology and class-leading dynamics.

2 BMW 335I COUPE

The BMW 335i Coupe provides elegant design, luxury and value all in one. It also establishes a new standard of performance and driving dynamics with the introduction of the first inline six-cylinder with twin-turbochargers, high-precision fuel injection, and an all-aluminum crankcase. In addition to the standard six-speed manual, both models will be offered with an available six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission.

1 BMW 130I M SPORT

The BMW 1 Series was designed to compete against the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf, it is the only car in its class to have rear-wheel drive and a longitudinally-mounted engine. And with performance figures of 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) are the tantalising results. These figures better rivals such as the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, Audi A3 3.2 V6 Sport Quattro Sportback and the Mercedes C320 SE Sports Coup
